Yeah, like the HNIC said, if you guys have issues with the cost of the conference, then please address it in the comments of that particular interview. It's the only way that the organizers can get a feel for what you guys are thinking. I understand what everyone is saying, but at the end of the day, I believe in this conference and I think this is going to be a positive thing for the South Florida entertainment community. The people who are serious enough about their craft will find a way to be there. PLAIN AND SIMPLE. The others will complain about it, but that only goes so far, you feel me? Wed, 08/20/2008 - 11:39am

yea but thats whats im saying "I agree with you but they probably make it so high to only get serious poeple in the event" but thats the whole thing if you make music you prolly take your music just as serious? im pretty sure, even though you might not have a whole lot of money or if you do more power, but i just think thats baised ya know its like i get the feeling " you cant do music unless you got bread" which isnt right talent is talent ya know, but good looks on the response, at least some people out there are seeing what im saying. 350 dollars to see a couple of people talk on a panel and pass some cds out is bullshit. It doesn't guarantee a damn thing about talent or "who's serious", a price like that only guarantees entrance for those who are in a better off situation financially, have someone already funding their music, or are selling drugs and using rap music as a good way to launder their money. friendly tip of advice 9.5/10 of the most passionate and serious emcees and musicians have been too focused on actually being good at music to be able to afford that kind of money to blow on these panels. that is of course if you're looking for real talent and not suckers who will throw half a rent check down the drain for empty promises. this is 2008 niggas need to stop being gullible and the other niggas with access need to stop being greedy and start looking for real music. keep this shit up and don't be surprised if it becomes a cold world for hip-hop to survive in. It already IS a cold world... not only for Hip-Hop, but ALL BUSINESS. STRAIGHT UP. I PERSONALLY have paid THOUSANDS of dollars to get access to music conferences in the past and make nothing more than SOLID CONNECTIONS. However, it's NOT about the contacts, it's HOW YOU WORK THOSE CONTACTS that seperates the successful people from those will NEVER make it. THINK ABOUT THAT. Respect to you all... HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL AT THE B.O.T.B. Wed, 10/01/2008 - 12:04pm

i have to agree with the b.o.t.b staff - if u wanna be there, you'll find a way to get the money. personally i'm glad they are charging so much cuz i'd rather be 1 of 50 aspiring artists than 1 of 500... feel me? so keep complaining and don't go to the event. The fewer the better! as a matter of fact, i'm hoping you don't show up so that I can have more one on one time with the industry execs. stay home and work on ur music. haha j/k man u should go. see u there Wed, 10/01/2008 - 2:40pm

"if u wanna be there, you'll find a way to get the money." - Yup that right there is why there is such a high percentage of minorities, incarcerated right now, because they were trying to find away. Nuttin against beats on the beach or anyone putting that on, but right about now, Banks are getting bought out left and right, im going the indie route, much love and power to every who goes to beats on the beach, much love and power to beach on the beach, but this year im going to have to sit this one out and your right that is more one on one time with you. Selfishness doesnt get people really far these days, that just alienates you. " Cough cough 50 cent". in fact it just gets you a flopping album . Fri, 10/03/2008 - 1:36am

If a 2 million or a 200,000 seller is a flopping album, then SO BE IT! Fact of the matter is that this is a GREAT OPPORTUNITY to build with some of THE BIGGEST NAMES to EVER make moves in the music industry. From Dj Clue, Sha Money XL, Riggs Morales, and Lenny S to The Runners, Cool & Dre, Gorilla Tek, and The Diaz Brothers will be amongst those attending the B.O.T.B. this year... so yeah, stay home. Shouts to the organizers... I for one, appreciate the effort that went into making this caliber of a music conference a reality in South Florida. Thank you. Tue, 10/07/2008 - 5:18pm

If you're a good artist and you're really on your grind then why are you stressing it? If you're really about what you do then you don't need any conference to network, and if you want to go because you think it'll help, and you're really a good artist then you should have enough chips by next year to go to next years conference. Overall, the conference was a HUGE success! The panels were ETREMELY INSIGHTFUL and the producer and artist showcases were EXCEPTIONAL! There were registrants from ALL OVER THE WORLD present! The networking opportunities were INCREDIBLE! I've been to MANY music conferences and you RARELY get the chance to sit down and ACTUALLY TALK to A & R's or executives, let alone play your music for them and get an INSTANT RESPONSE! THAT WAS PROBABLY THE HIGHLIGHT! To be able to sit down with Lenny S, who was Jay-Z's A & R at Def Jam for many years, and have him tell you that your music is SERIOUS and you're filling a void in the music industry... that lets you know you are heading in the right direction, so KEEP IT MOVIN'!!! LET'S GET IT!!! Congratulations to DBHH and IStandard Producers for putting together a beautiful situation for everyone to come and benefit from. On behalf of the entertainment community of South Florida, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. And congratulations to one of THE BEST ACTS emerging out of South Floirda, City Of God, for winning The Grand Prize at the Indie Artist Contest. WE LOVE YOU GUYS! KEEP ROCKIN' & DOIN' YOUR THING! YOU GUYS TRULY DESERVE IT! TO EVERYONE WHO MISSED IT, WE'LL SEE YOU NEXT YEAR! Respect, love, and blessings, Sun, 10/12/2008 - 8:20pm

yeaaaa i agree, beats on the beach turned out to be a great experience, and the highlight for me was definitely sitting one on one with Lenny S and Gorilla Tek. They each listened to 3 of my tracks and gave me their advice/feedback. i wish i would have been able to showcase but i'll definitely be there next yr Post new comment |

Everyone is entitled to their very own opinion. For one its a recession, two the origin of hip hop came from Poverty stricken environments, And three if they are really trying to due a service to the public get government funding do your homework, dont just do what you want and say oh the participants will just pay for it, because in reality music belongs to the people and Radio is a service of the people, they should cater it more for the people. I dont have a problems with there being admission cost such as 100 dollars but 350 is rather steep, during a time when people are getting laid off left and right, gas prices are 3-4 dollars and its a damn recession. Now i know some will say oh if you take your music seriously you will pay the cost but thats bullish, because just because one person may have more money to allocate towards there music does not mean the next man that does not have as much monetary status doesnt take his music equally as serious. So this kinda reconfirms what many of us know about music business its not always about talent but about how deep ones pockets are, and its fucked up, and the longer we keep paying these prices and not speaking up the longer they are going to continue to beat people over the head. Now granted it cost money to rent a place fly people over for these panels and yadadada, but hey they should do there homework better, higher a proper public relations person, to go out and help get funding, and other allocations and sponsors in order to subsidize the price of the conference. Just like education if you dont live in a high tax paying community then most likely your child is going to a d-f rated school, in which is inferior to A+ schools in places like Coral Springs Florida, now should a child have to suffer because his mother or father dont make enough for thier zone to be a priority for the school board and allocate more funding for education no. So same should apply to this music, dont try to weed out people due to thier monetary income, because there are plenty of aspiring artist with little or no money, that will work ten times harder, efficient and better then people with millions given the opportunity. Music is freedom of expression for the people by the people so we must not forget that. Shit most colleges and technical schools got financial aid available. If getting educated on the music business is going to be a high expense class maybe they should look into how they can provide financial aid to those who cannot afford 350. Im not trying to be cheap cause ide be willing to pay 100 dollars for admission im just trying to be reasonable, plus at 100 dollars you would get way more people then at 350 to just accomodate a few and have a few benefit. After All the whole point of the panel is to educate right, so i dont know what kind of panel would just want to talk to a few people instead of a mass of people. JMO. 1 hunnid
