Mike Banger - Music Producer

Mike Banger is a music producer from Miami that is making a name for himself with each beat he tracks. He recently caught our attention with the production on Jacki-O's single "Baby Mama" for her latest album "Lil Red Riding Hood", in which Mike banged out some other tracks. In this interview he lets us know a little more about himself and even teaching us how he makes a beat.

Yo Mike, what it is? Yo you produced that Jacki-O - Baby Mama track? That's a BANGER for real!
Yea man thanks! I did a few on that new album and alot of the mixtape stuff. Thats my homegirl.


Besides Jacki-O, who else have you worked with?
I've worked with with Shonie, Brisco, The Dey, Lumidee, Curren$y, I did a Trick Remix, I was Ross's engineer. I was at Poe Boy for a bit. I've been laying kinda low from the scene working hard in the studio getting ready to make some noise.


You got a project on the way? How long have you been producing for?
I been at it for about 6 years behind the scenes interning at alot of studios. That was my way in really but its been tough since I never went to school. I'm doing a mixtape right now and I'll be shopping an album around too. Looking for a production situation somewhere to get me out of my moms house to start with. I'm just really getting the promo push plan going right now since I saved a bit for it. I'm beefing up the Myspace with Rob Dyrdeks graphic guy (
myspace.com/robdyrdek ). I'm also a skateboarder too so I'm putting instrumentals on some pro skateboarding videos as well. I aint no Pharell either I got a halfpipe in my backyard and been doing it since like elementary before even making beats. I really support the action sports industry. Other than that once these songs are mixed its just operation Miami streets! I'm really trying to rep a new local sound.

Is there any artist out there you would like to work with from the crib that you haven't done so yet?
Well I have not worked with Pit which is odd. Smitty, and a REAL official song on Tricks album would be nice. Nore is one who seems easily accessible in Miami too. LMS has got something going I might hit him up soon. Really anyone who is on the grind who sounds good and invests as much time and money as I do, I would work with. I don't do the hundred dollar beat selling to random people we never hear.


Besides "Mike Banger", is there something else you rep?
I dont really officially rep anything just got a close artist network. I'm open to a production deal but I dont want to lock myself to a labels creative direction unless the money is right. I'm really cool with Jackmove Ent, ArtOfficial, T.I.M.E. ent., The D.e.y., and a few others I work with alot. Also Precision Productions is a talented skateboarding production team from Reno I'm doing some cool new stuff with. I got a mixtape coming too with only like 4 remix freetstyles the rest are originals.


Whats the title of that mixtape and will it be instrumentals or have songs on there?
No it'll be full songs with maybe a few remix freestyles. I'm the main artist on this project so I pretty much had to produce myself. Not sure of the title yet since I dont know wether to get a host or not and I have a bunch of solo tracks done so I'm narrowing them down and choosing a single to push. I may include some bonus tracks of other artists that I produced too.


Hold on, you get on the mic too?
Yea but the beats come first. I've been writing hooks and rough verses when I shop tracks to others so its all in me a lil bit pretty much. I want my project to showcase my production skills as a whole while doing some fun different shit. Its like Swizz, or Pharell's solo releases you feel me? I'm just trying to play my position as best as possible.
