What Cubans Can Not Do Cubans can not: Travel abroad without government permission. Change jobs without government permission. Change residence without government permission. Access the Internet without government permission (the Internet is closely monitored and controlled by the government. Only 1.67% of the population has access to the Internet). Send their children to a private or religious school (all schools are government run, there are no religious schools in Cuba). Watch independent or private radio or TV stations (all TV and radio stations are owned and run by the government). Cubans illegally watch/listen to foreign broadcasts. Read books, magazines or newspapers, unless approved/published by the government (all books, magazines and newspapers are published by the government). Receive publications from abroad or from visitors (punishable by jail terms under Law 88). Visit or stay in tourist hotels, restaurants, and resorts (these are off-limits to Cubans). Seek employment with foreign companies on the island, unless approved by the government. Run for public office unless approved by Cubas Communist Party. Own businesses, unless they are very small and approved by the government and pay onerous taxes. Retain a lawyer, unless approved by the government. Choose a physician or hospital. Both are assigned by the government. Refuse to participate in mass rallies and demonstrations organized by the Cuban Communist Party. Criticize the Castro regime or the Cuban Communist Party, the only party allowed in Cuba.

Actually that isnt all true,Cubans can enter hotel lobbies, hotle restaurants and hotel pool areas if they are their to purchase or consume. For example when I saty in Habana I always take my friends and family to the Havana Trip or Presidente hotel to eat and to use their pool. Now then we all have to pay to enter the hotel pool and depending which hotel it is,addmission to their pools can range from $5-$10 per person. Now that isnt a bad thing considering the fact that your addmission fee is converted into some sort of consumption credit. Meaning,if it cost us $5 each to use their pool and I ate/drank $5 worth of food and drink, I wouldnt have to pay for my meal, just the balance if any etc. Here in Miami you cannot enter a hotel unless you're a guest and let me know the next time you go to Venitian Pool and pay $9 to get in and they gave you a consumption credit so I can go there all the time with la familia! lol Seek employment with foreign companies on the island, unless approved by the government. Then, he says that is because he doesn't care about what is going on around the world because he lives here, but if he only used his brain to realize that what goes on around the world directly effects us here at home. The difference is that he gets to sleep nice and warm at night and then worry about going to the rap studio the next morning, when kids his same age in other parts of the world are either risking their lives to come to the United States in a raft such as the Cubans, or running across the dessert such as the Mexicans, or having to pick up a rifle and defend his country because there is no other choice like in Israel. How about the Iranian people who are not allowed to even wear "western" style clothing because they may be shot by their government? Or in China their internet search engines are not permitted by the government to have the words "democracy" or "freedom" come up in any searches, did you know that? Boy, we have it rough here in this "bad" and "evil" country and government of ours, what is your biggest worry tomorrow for you, what time you will eat breakfast at or go to work at? To some people around the world that is a fantasy while a lot of us here take it for granted as our reality..... How about that for some real talk for a change........ yes you have a point, i'm cuban..and i know my people have suffered and still are in that communist island, and most of our native countries right now are suffering as well. But i have to stand up for LMS because i dont think you inderstand what hes trying to get accross, he does not mean we have it bad now, he means we are going to have it bad in the future. Just like cuba we are going to be controlled and supervised every move we make by the government. Basically slaves just like cubans. Our generation are going to be living breathing robots, no freedom, just like in cuba. except technology is so advanced here its probably going to be worse. So im just saying we dont have it bad now, shit im glad im in this country with how bad things are in other countries. But its just a matter of time that we will join all that commotion thats going out there. I mean all this war, technology and all these selfish heartless people who are just stepping on everyone for power. We arent really going in sucha great direction either. and the whole moral of the story is= inform yourselves. dont suck your teeth at everything you hear or read, have an open mind for once. :)

Re: What Cubans Can Not Do
It's ridiculous and sad what's going on in Cuba... Alot of my family members came before El Mariel when the situation over there wasn't as bad... And even back then it was difficult to live there... I agree that alot of us complain and we have no idea what it is to really struggle... I'll admit that I probably wouldn't last a week in those kind of circumstances...

wups... lol. shouldnt this be in shameless plug? ha I'm just bugging on you. I'll download it tomorrow an see how it pertains. Its sad what is going on. Thats why i hate it when my cuban peeps say.. " Esto No pasa en cuba". Comida no pasa en Cuba. For as many flaws the US has.. and many more the president has, I love the US that allows me to still be proud of my heritage. But lets be real, some of our rafter family members need to be revoked of their drivers license. Driving in Hialeah is getting more and more ridiculous every day.
