Wrekonize - "The Waiting Room" (Official Big EFF R
Mon, 02/13/2006 - 9:38pm
I went home for lunch today and when I opened the mail, there it was. The new Wrekonize mix CD I ordered last week, as soon as I found out it was for sale. It was titled "The Waiting Room" and as you can see from the pic above, it shows Wrek waiting his turn in a cheesy doctor's office with his trusty MPC. I open the package and there's a note from the man himself thanking me for the purchase. I jokingly told him to autograph it and dude actually took the time to write the note. I felt I was special at that point, but that little token gesture would not be enough to keep me from giving it an honest review. It was time to go back to work so I slid the CD into my Jeep's stereo and let it ride. The intro and concept of the mixtape are ingenius and the analogy of the waiting room makes total sense. There's Wrek (the only white muthafucka in the waiting room) waiting for his chance at success in this rap game. I won't give too much away but the skits are funny as fuck and I'll leave it at that. The music is what matters, however, and Wrek does not disappoint. One major crack on battle emcees is that they can't write songs. The only thing they're good at is battle rhymes. Well, this reigning Mtv battle champ proves that notion wrong immediately off the first track. He spits lyrics that are mind blowing on each track. His punchlines are memorable. He tells stories and paints pictures with words. He uses Miami-Dade landmarks in his rhymes in ways that no other Miami emcee does. Any Miami resident can instantly identify with these landmarks as they are not confined to one neighborhood, but are well-known landmarks throughout the county. You don't have to live off of Dixie Highway to know where it's at... Wrek also switches up his flow and succeeds in his delivery of lyrics on every track. The music is also out of this world! Whether it's him using rehashed beats or original production by Plex, DJ Spinna, or even the one and only DJ Sharpsound who also happens to make an appearance on this mix CD. Both musically and lyrically, this mix CD is amazing! WARNING: I'm about to make a bold statement that some of you may not be ready for so please brace yourselves. This mix CD is by far, hands down, the best mix CD I've ever heard come out of the 305, 954, 786, whatever the fuck you wanna claim! The concept, the music, the lyrics, and the skits are all dope as fuck! Wrek is officially my new favorite Miami emcee. He's gotten better and it shows. I am completely blown away by how good this mix CD is. If you love hip hop, like I love hip hop, do yourself a favor and buy this mix CD immediately! You will not be disappointed. You have my word on it! Big EFF has spoken! You can purchase it at: http://www.myspace.com/Wrekonize

This is one hell of a review, if you are a Wrek fan. Personally, I love Wrekonize. I think he is one of the most talented MC's out of Miami. Notice I said MC and not rapper because I have seen him perform and the boy controls the crowd like few others know how to do. Props to Wrek and Big Eff for this great review of a classic mixtape.
